Barnes and Noble apparently ships so quickly that you can receive the delivery before it ships.
Email I received this morning (09/15), which arrived at 5:18PM: "Your order is now packed and ready to ship."
LaserShip sequence:
Package Delivered: 09/14/2009 9:53 PM
Impressive, isn't it?

For everyone's reference:
Under the new MTA fare schedule ($2.25/ride, 15% bonus), the first time you now get a whole number of rides when buying in increments of $10 is when you spend $90. Of course, no one ever buys a $90 metrocard and I don't even think they allow you to buy $90 (or $45) as an option.
At any rate: this has been a public service announcement. If you're starting a new metrocard, try to make sure that you hit $90 purchased at some point (particularly since buying in increments of $20 means you won't be able to fully empty a metrocard until you've put $180 on it).

Like the title says- anyone have meal plans? Or alternatively, not have them? I'm willing to host something, if necessary.

Alright, I know I'm going to be made fun of again, but...I once again have a code for them, this time B1G1 (full price items only, I'm afraid). The code, online and in the stores, is "FREE4U" (no "" marks).

Just as a note- though many of us have them, if anyone's looking, amazon.com is carrying the full buffy series (seasons 1-7) for $69.99.

As of now, I have 1 1st night Shavuot invitation, 2 brunch invitations, and a 2nd day lunch invitation. Anyone planning a 2nd day dinner thing, or should I be thinking in that direction?

I don't even think that I have any commentary for the moment on this. Besides the post title, of course:
Can you believe this???

Question for people (locals really, since no one else would be interested)-
Does anyone have an interest in a case (i.e. 10 reams) of paper? Staples has them for $20 each after rebate, but only if you buy 2. I could use another one, but 2 is definitely more than I really need (actually, I might be able to do 2, but since I don't know if I'm moving yet, that would seem unwise).

So, for all of those of you who are looking for MS Office 2007, and are a student, and want a low price (IIRC MSDNAA doesn't include Office, in general):
The Ultimate Steal Offer- Office Ultimate for $60. Offered directly by MS.

This public service announcement has been brought to you by the letter J and the number 42.
Many of you already know, but I've been seeing a number of LJ posts that maybe shouldn't be public. Not that they're embarassing, but that you wouldn't want anyone who knew your LJ name to see them. So, a public service announcement: about 30 seconds after posting this, Google will have an archive of it. The same goes for any public posts you make. Be aware.

Do we really need a toilet bowl cleaner under hashgacha?
My better half notes: but if you drink it, drink 203 glasses of water.

I'm wondering whether or not someone just posted a riff on a Python sketch on MSNBC.

Remind me not to do that too loudly. I think I just scared a small dog. On the other hand, that could be a useful skill for rodents.
(OK, to be fair, I didn't actually scare a small dog. But I'm sure that I could without too much effort)
(EDIT): PS- if anyone knows of any meals this weekend, please let me know (I'm actually just me, for once).

Egads! Josh posting twice! Must be something wrong.
No, actually, I just wanted to post an interesting link. This is a link to a YU Commentator interview with Rabbi Joel Roth. This is certainly not my newspaper of choice, and it's an opinion piece, not a news story, but I thought it was interesting that it made it in, nevertheless.

1. Tell you why I added you to my friends list and/or why I keep you there. 2. Associate you with something. A song, a color, a work of art, a character in a play, a piece of fruit. SOMETHING. 3. Tell you something I like about you. 4. Tell you a memory I have of you/us. 5. Associate you with a character from a book or a film. 6. Ask something I've always wanted to know about you. (Or else I'll just ask a random question. I reserve that right.) 7. Tell you my favorite user pic of yours.
Ergh... the downside: in return, you must spread this disease in your LJ.
From various sources and wonderful people
